Parroquia Santiago Apóstol
(Saint James the Apostle Parish)

Mission: To provide religious education, catechism, marriage sacrament workshops, social services and food to the local community.

Number Served: 1,600 children monthly, in addition to regular weekly religious services and sacrament.

Location: Colonia Reforma, Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico

SHI Partnership Began: 2005

Project Overview: The Parish is lead by Father Aurelio Castillo Aguilar and volunteers. Together they provide community outreach and aid in the form of breakfast and catechism to an average of 1,600 children monthly with the assistance they receive from SHI. The parish has also recieved one portable building which has been converted into a chapel enabling them to provide a clean and safe environment for the community.  In addition to providing breakfast to children attending Saturday and Sunday morning catechism classes, the Parish also provides the community for first communion and confirmation, and also distributes blankets, shoes, sweaters, back-packs, and tarps for incliment weather protection and the annual December Christmas tradition.
